Odometer: Description and Operation

Odometer is integral with the speedometer. It receives distance signal from transmission mounted Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS).

Odometer Replacement
The mileage on replacement speedometer/odometers cannot be reset by a technician. A speedometer preset to the correct mileage, is available through designated Ford service centers.

Trip Odometer
The trip odometer:
- Is located in the speedometer above the primary odometer.
- Consists of four digits that range from 0000 to 9999 before rolling over back to 0000.
- Can be reset to 0000 by pressing the odometer reset shaft.
- Is mounted in the instrument cluster.
- Receives its input from Powertrain Control Module (PCM).
