Rocker Arm Assembly: Service and Repair
REMOVAL1. Remove valve covers (6582).
2. Position piston (6108) of cylinder being serviced at the bottom of its stroke and camshaft lobe at base circle.
3. Install Valve Spring Spacer T91P-6565-AH between valve spring coils to prevent valve stem seal damage.
CAUTION: If Valve Spring Spacer T91 P-6565-AH is not used, valve spring retainer (6514) will hit valve stem seal (6571) resulting in damage to the valve stem seal.
4. Install Valve Spring Compressor T91P-6565-A under camshaft (6250) and on top of valve spring retainer.
5. Compress valve spring (6513) and remove rocker arm (6564).
6. Remove Valve Spring Compressor T91P-6565-A and Valve Spring Spacer T91P-6565-AH. Repeat Steps 2 through 6 until all necessary rocker arms are removed.
INSTALLATION
1. Apply clean engine oil to valve stem and tip, rocker arm contact surfaces and valve tappet.
2. Install Valve Spring Spacer T91P-6565-AH between valve spring coils.
3. Compress valve spring using Valve Spring Compressor T91P-6565-A and install rocker arm.
NOTE: Piston must be at the bottom of its stroke and camshaft at base circle.
4. Remove valve spring compressor and spacer.
5. Repeat Steps 1 through 4 until all rocker arms are installed.
6. Install valve cover. Start engine and check for leaks.
