Flow of Diagnosis

Before replacing a valve tappet for noisy operation, make sure the noise is not caused by:
^ Improper valve-to-rocker arm clearance.
^ loose rocker arm mounting nuts or studs.
^ worn rocker arms.
^ worn push rods.
