Removal and Installation

REMOVAL
1. Remove wheel and tire assembly.
2. Remove brake drum.
3. Remove rear brake shoe and lining.
4. Disconnect rear brake tube from rear wheel cylinder.

NOTE: Do not let brake fluid contact brake linings or the linings must be replaced.

5. Remove retaining bolts and remove rear wheel cylinder.

NOTE: Wipe the ends of the hydraulic hose to remove any foreign matter before making connections.

INSTALLATION
1. Position rear wheel cylinder on rear brake backing plate and finger-tighten rear brake tube to rear wheel cylinder.
2. Secure rear wheel cylinder to rear brake backing plate by installing retaining bolts. Tighten bolts to 12-18 Nm (107-159 inch lbs.).
3. Tighten rear brake line fitting to 14-24 Nm (11-17 ft. lbs.) using a tube nut wrench.
4. Install and adjust brake shoes. Adjustments
5. Install brake drum.
6. Bleed the serviced component.
7. Install wheel and tire assembly.
8. Lower vehicle and retest brake system.
