REMOVAL
1. Raise and support vehicle.
2. Remove wheel cover and/or nut covers as required.
3. Remove tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Steering and Suspension.
4. Remove drum retainer pushnuts from lug bolts and remove brake drum.

5. If the brake drum assembly will not come off for brake service, pry rubber plug from backing plate inspection hole.
6. Insert a screwdriver and brake tools to disengage brake shoe adjusting lever and back-off the adjusting screw.

INSTALLATION
1. If installing new brake drum, completely remove protective coating. Lightly sand inner brake drum surface.
2. Before installing a brake drum, thoroughly clean all rust, dirt, etc. from the drum surface that contacts the hub.
3. Adjust brakes.
4. Install brake drum. Install brake drum retainer pushnuts. Pushnuts prevent drum distortion by keeping the drum square to the hub until the wheel is installed.
5. Install tire and wheel assembly. Install wheel cover.
6. Lower vehicle.
