CAUTION: The rotor runout specification must be met to assure proper brake performance without premature vehicle return with shudder or roughness complaints.

1. Do not remove wheel and tire.
2. Using a torque wrench tighten lug nuts to 115-142 Nm (85-104 ft. lbs.). Raise and support vehicle.
3. Assemble Rotunda Disc Rotor and Ball Joint Gauge or equivalent and extension. Install spherical tip on extension.
4. Drill an 3.5 mm (1/8 inch) hole in dust shield slightly above lower ring as shown.
5. Clamp Rotunda Disc Rotor and Ball Joint Gauge or equivalent on rear suspension arm and bushing as shown. Have an assistant push inward on wheel cover or axle shaft center while rotating wheel.
6. Rotate wheel for six revolutions. Record total indicated runout. If the runout is less than 0.076 mm (0.003 inch) runout is satisfactory.
7. If the runout is not within specification, remove wheel and tire assembly.

8. Make and index mark on the rotor and one stud with touch-up paint. Remove rotor and measure the hub flange mounting face outside of the stud circle.
9. If the runout of the hub flange exceeds specification, install a new hub and bearing assembly and repeat flange face runout measurement. Reinstall the rotor and repeat the rotor runout measurement. For wheel hub replacement procedures, refer to Transmission and Drivetrain.
10. Wheel hub runout must be less than 0.076 mm (0.003 inch). If the runout of the hub flange is within specification, reindex the rotor to the hub and repeat the measurement.
11. If the rotor still exceeds the specification, replace the rotor, repeat the runout measurement and reindex the rotor if necessary.
12. Install rotor, noting the following:
a. Clean the hub face and backside of rotor hat of contaminants.
b. Apply High Temperature Nickel Anti-Seize Lubricant.
13. Reinstall the caliper and caliper bracket.
