Clearing Trouble Codes

NOTE: Ford DOES NOT provide procedures other than those described to retrieve or clear trouble codes.

NOTE: Each time the engine is started, the ABS control module will count two run cycles.

1. The original error codes in the ABS control module from the assembly plant will erase automatically if everything is in working order once the vehicle is driven about 40 km/h (25 mph).

NOTE: If self-diagnostic Pinpoint Test Steps continually lead to reverify symptom, go to Antilock Quick Check Test.

2. All error codes must be output, all malfunctions corrected (ABS indicator "OFF"), and vehicle driven about 40 km/h (25 mph) before the memory will clear.
3. The ABS control module will erase all stored codes if it counts 250 consecutive run cycles without recognizing a malfunction.
