Front Seats

POWER, SIX-WAY
The six-way power seat system provides horizontal, vertical and tilt adjustments. It consists of the following components:
- seat regulator control switch
- seat regulator motor
- vertical gear drives and horizontal rack-and-pinion drives

The mechanical portion of the front seat track in the horizontal drive has the following features:
- It consists of a rack-and-pinion drive on each track.
- The pinion housing and seat regulator motor is mounted to the movable section of the track.
- When the seat regulator control switch is actuated, the center armature is energized and the horizontal drive units are activated.
- The seat is then moved forward or rearward by the pinion gears traveling in a rack on each lower track section.

In the vertical drive, worm gear and sector gear mechanisms are used. The drive units are located in the front and rear of the transmission case and operate in the following manner:
- When the seat regulator control switch is actuated, the front and rear armatures are energized simultaneously and the vertical drive units are activated.
- The seat is then moved up or down by the sector gears.
- When the front tilt portion of seat regulator control switch is actuated, the front armature drives the front vertical worm gear and moves the seat to the desired position.
- When the rear tilt portion of seat regulator control switch is actuated, the rear armature drives the rear vertical worm gear and moves the seat to the desired position.

The transmission and seat regulator motors are serviced only as an assembly.

The seat regulator control switch assembly is serviced separately.

Circuit Protection
The power seat circuit is protected by the 20-amp SEAT/LOOK circuit breaker in the fuse junction panel.
