Flow of Diagnosis
1. Verify the customer's concern by operating the anti-theft system duplicating the condition.2. Inspect to determine if one of the following mechanical or electrical concerns apply:
VISUAL INSPECTION CHART
Mechanical
- Loose, damaged, or disconnected luggage compartment door lock cylinder switch.
Electrical
- Open fuses:
- Power Distribution Box - Fuse 10(15A)
- Fuse Junction Panel Fuses ACC (10A), INTLPS (10A), SEAT/Lock (20A cb)
- In-line fuses (at anti-theft alarm control in luggage compartment): Parking Lamps (10A) Anti-Theft Alarm control (20A)
- Loose connections
- corroded connections
3. Perform the following anti-theft on-board diagnostic test as follows before proceeding to the Symptom Chart:
a. Turn ignition switch to RUN. If the THEFT indicator lamp comes on solid for 10 seconds, service the ignition lock anti-theft switch and/or Circuit 936 (DG/W).
b. Activate power door unlock button 5 times within ten seconds to enter output test mode.
c. Count the number of flashes of the anti-theft warning indicator lamp (repeats every 10 seconds). Diagnostic Trouble Code Tests and Associated Procedures
d. Diagnostic mode will automatically cancel after two minutes or by turning ignition switch OFF.
NOTE: The following test can quickly identify a shorted to ground condition for the door lock cylinder switches, luggage compartment door lock cylinder switch, ignition lock anti-theft switch or the associated circuits.
4. If inspection reveals obvious concern(s) that can be readily identified, service as required.
5. If the concern(s) remains after the inspection, determine the symptom(s) and proceed to Symptom Chart. Symptom Related Diagnostic Procedures
