Safing Sensor: Service and Repair

WARNING: THE BACKUP POWER SUPPLY ENERGY MUST BE DEPLETED BEFORE ANY AIR BAG COMPONENT SERVICE IS PERFORMED. TO DEPLETE THE BACKUP POWER SUPPLY ENERGY, DISCONNECT THE BATTERY GROUND CABLE AND WAIT ONE MINUTE.

Removal
1. Disconnect the battery ground cable and wait one minute for the backup power supply energy to be depleted.
2. Loosen the front door scuff plate screw.
3. Remove the two quarter trim panel grommets.
4. Disengage the retaining clip.





5. Remove the cowl side trim panel.
6. Remove the interior fuse junction panel nut.
7. Disconnect the interior fuse junction panel from the upper mounting tab.
8. Position the interior fuse junction panel aside to provide access to the safing sensor.





9. Disconnect the safing sensor electrical connector.
10. Remove the two sating sensor bolts.





11. Remove the safing sensor from the LH kick panel.

Installation
To install, reverse the removal procedure.

Verify that the air bag warning indicator is operative.
