Throttle Cable/Linkage: Adjustments
DEFLECTIONNOTE: The accelerator cable connects to the lower half of the throttle control lever.
1. Measure the accelerator cable deflection at the deflection checking point midway between the accelerator cable bracket and the throttle control lever. The deflection should be 1-3mm (0.04-0.12 inch).
Accelerator Cable:
2. If necessary, loosen the locknuts on the accelerator cable bracket and adjust the cable deflection until it is within specification.
3. After the proper deflection is achieved, tighten the accelerator cable bracket locknuts.
WIDE OPEN THROTTLE POSITION
1. Adjust the accelerator cable deflection.
2. Have an assistant press the accelerator pedal to the floor.
3. Verify that the throttle valve is in the wide open position while the accelerator pedal is pressed to the floor.
4. If the throttle valve is not in the wide open position, have the assistant keep the accelerator pedal pressed to the floor while you adjust the locknuts on the accelerator cable bracket. Adjust the locknuts until the throttle valve is in the wide open position.
5. Have the assistant release the accelerator pedal. Verify that the throttle valve is completely in the closed position.
6. Check accelerator cable deflection.
ACCELERATOR PEDAL LIMITER
NOTE: If both accelerator cable deflection and wide open throttle position cannot be set, then the accelerator pedal limiter needs to be adjusted.
1. Use a 17mm wrench to loosen the locknut on the limiter bolt.
2. Adjust the limiter using a 14mm wrench. Turn in to increase accelerator pedal travel, out to decrease travel.
3. While holding the limiter with the 14mm wrench, tighten the locknut using the 17mm wrench.
4. Check the accelerator cable deflection and wide open throttle position. Adjust, if necessary.
