Fuel Filler Hose: Service and Repair
REMOVALNOTE: The fuel tank filler pipe consists of the filler neck, an overflow tube, and a vapor tube. The fuel tank filler pipe is replaced as a unit.
1. Perform the fuel pressure release procedure. Fuel Pressure Release
2. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
3. Completely drain the fuel tank by siphoning the fuel through the filler inlet pipe using Rotunda Fuel Storage Tanker (Hand-Operated) 164-R3201 and the Fuel Tanker Adapter Hose 164-R3206.
Filler Neck Retainer:
4. Unscrew the fuel tank filler cap and remove the two fuel filler neck retainer screws from the fuel filler neck retainer.
Filler Neck:
5. Remove the fuel filler neck retainer.
6. Raise and support the vehicle.
Filler Pipe Shield:
7. Remove the fuel tank filler pipe shield screw and remove the fuel tank filler pipe shield.
Filler Pipe:
8. Loosen the clamp and disconnect the fuel tube hose from the fuel tank filler pipe.
Filler Pipe:
9. Loosen the clamp and disconnect the relief discharge vent from the overflow tube.
10. Disconnect the fuel tank vent tube(s) from vapor tube(s).
Filler Neck Attaching Bolt:
11. Remove the two fuel tank filler pipe bolts.
Filler Neck Assembly:
12. Remove the fuel tank filler pipe.
INSTALLATION
1. Place the fuel tank filler pipe into its mounting position.
2. Install the fuel tank filler pipe bolts and tighten to 8-11 Nm (69-95 lb in).
3. Connect the fuel tank vent tube(s) to the vapor tube(s).
4. Connect the relief discharge vent to the overflow tube and install the clamp.
Filler Pipe:
5. Connect the fuel tube hose to the fuel tank filler pipe and install the clamp.
6. Position the fuel tank filler pipe shield and install the fuel tank filler pipe shield screw.
7. Lower the vehicle.
8. Position the fuel filler neck retainer and install the two fuel filler neck retainer screws.
9. Install the fuel tank filler cap.
10. Connect the battery ground cable.
