Fuel Filter: Service and Repair
WARNING: Do not smoke or carry an open flame of any type when working on or near any fuel-related component. Do not work on fuel-related components when the engine is hot. Leaking fuel may contact hot engine components and be ignited, resulting in possible personal injury.REMOVAL
1. Perform the fuel pressure release procedure. Fuel Pressure Release
2. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
3. Position a suitable container below the fuel filter to collect any excess fuel that may leak from the fuel filter and fuel tubes.
Fuel Filter:
4. Remove the fuel tube clip from the fuel filter upper hose.
WARNING: Do not allow excess fuel from the fuel filter or lines to contact any engine or exhaust components. This may cause the fuel to be ignited, resulting in possible personal injury.
Fuel Filter:
5. Disconnect the fuel filter upper hose from the fuel filter and drain any excess fuel into the container. Plug the fuel filter upper hose.
6. Loosen the fuel filter bracket.
7. Raise and support the vehicle.
8. Remove the fuel tube clip from the fuel filter lower hose.
9. Disconnect the fuel filter lower hose from the fuel filter and drain any excess fuel into the container. Plug the fuel filter lower hose.
10. Lower the vehicle.
Fuel Filter:
11. Remove the fuel filter.
INSTALLATION
1. Position the fuel filter and tighten the fuel filter bracket.
2. Connect the fuel filter upper hose to the fuel filter.
3. Install the fuel tube clip on the fuel filter upper hose.
4. Raise the vehicle.
5. Connect the fuel filter lower hose to the fuel filter.
6. Install the fuel tube clip to the fuel filter lower hose.
7. Lower the vehicle.
8. Connect the battery ground cable.
