Air Induction System:

The intake air system supplies and controls the amount of air required by the engine for smooth operation. To reduce intake noise, an engine intake air resonator and an engine intake air resonator are included in the intake air system. Both components absorb air flow pulsations as air is being drawn into the system to reduce intake noise.

Air is drawn in through an open engine air cleaner intake tube mounted at the front of the engine compartment. The air then passes through the air cleaner element and is measured by a mass air flow sensor. The metered air passes through the engine intake air resonator (chamber), the air cleaner to intake manifold tube, and into the throttle body. From the throttle body, the air enters the intake manifold, where it is sent to mix with fuel for combustion.

An idle air control valve has a hose which connects into the engine intake air resonator (chamber). Measured amounts of bypass air are transferred from the intake air system to the throttle body to maintain steady engine idle.
