Test Notes

NOTE: You should enter this Pinpoint Test only when directed here.

REMEMBER: This Pinpoint Test is used to diagnose the cause associated with the failure to complete Mode 1 of a Drive Cycle. It is intended to diagnose only the following:

- Fuel System
- Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) Sensor
- Intake Air Temperature (IAT) Sensor
- Mass Air Flow (MAF) Sensor or Measuring Core-Volume Air Flow (MC-VAF) Sensor
- Evaporative Emission Canister Purge (CAN P) Solenoid
- Air Intake System Leaks
- Exhaust Gas Recirculation Boost (EGRB) Sensor
- Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) Valve
- Powertrain Control Module (PCM)

This Pinpoint Test is also used when a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P1000 is retrieved. DTC P1000 does not indicate a fault exists in the vehicle. DTC P 1000 is retrieved when an emission related concern has been fixed and will be stored in memory until all emission related systems have been monitored via a Drive Cycle.

It is not necessary to remove the DTC P1000 from the PCM by driving the vehicle unless it is requested by the customer to pass an inspection/maintenance test or if local laws require it.

Inform the customer of the need for additional driving when required to pass an inspection/maintenance test.
