QT9 Perform Continuous Test
NOTE: Use the audible warning function on the tester by turning the "SPKR" switch ON. You will be alerted of a continuous test fault without having to visually check the tester.
- Connect the Rotunda 73 Digital Multimeter 105-R0051 or equivalent and jumper wire, or the Rotunda Super STAR II Tester 007-0041B or Rotunda New Generation Star (NGS) Tester 007-00500, as in Test Step QT5, QT6, or QT7.
- Key ON.
NOTE: With the key ON, any coded fault re-created during continuous test will illuminate the warning indicator constantly. If the key is turned OFF, then back ON without clearing codes from memory, the warning indicator will flash codes along with the VOM, the Super STAR II Tester, or NGS Tester indicating a past or intermittent fault.
- Tap, move, and wiggle the suspected sensor and/or harness working with short sections from the sensor to the bulkhead and to the anti-lock brake control module. Drive the vehicle, if necessary.
- Does the indicator illuminate continuously or is an audible warning heard from Super STAR II Tester?
YES -- Record VOM or tester diagnostic trouble codes and refer to Code Identification Chart. Service only the codes re-created in this test step. Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Index
NO -- Normal operation. If intermittent fault cannot be re-created, turn key off. Disconnect suspect sensor and anti-lock brake control module from harness very carefully. Visually inspect all terminals for corrosion, bad crimps, improperly seated terminals, etc. Reconnect harness connectors and re-attempt this test.
