A7 Check Grounds
- Disconnect generic electronic module connector C2. Schematic and Connector Views Used With Pinpoint Tests
- Using ohmmeter, measure resistance to ground of both C2-14 and C2-23, Circuit 57 (BK).
Is resistance 5 ohms or less?
Yes
Go to A8.
No
SERVICE either or both Circuits 57 (BK) for opens or high resistance.
RESTORE vehicle.
REPEAT self test.
A8 Check Dedicated Ground
- Disconnect generic electronic module connector C4.
- Using ohmmeter, measure resistance to ground of Pin C4-12, Circuit 570 (BK/W).
Is resistance 5 ohms or less?
Yes
GO to A9
No
SERVICE Circuit 570 (BK/W) for opens or high resistance.
RESTORE vehicle.
REPEAT self test.
A9 Check Ignition START/RUN Input
- Disconnect generic electronic module connector C3.
- Turn ignition switch to RUN.
- Using voltmeter, connected to a good ground, measure voltage at Pin C3-14.
Is B+ present?
Yes
Go to A11.
No
Go to A10.
A10 Check Fuse Junction Panel Fuse 12
- Remove fuse junction panel Fuse 12.
- Measure resistance across fuse.
Is fuse OK?
Yes
SERVICE Circuit 640 (R/Y) for open.
RESTORE vehicle.
REPEAT self test.
No
SERVICE Circuit 640 (R/Y) for short to ground.
REPLACE fuse 12.
RESTORE vehicle.
REPEAT self test.
A11 Check Signal Ground Circuit 938 (BK/LG)
- Using ohmmeter connected to a good ground, measure resistance between Pin C4-22, Circuit 938 (BK/LG) and ground.
Is resistance less than 5 ohms?
Yes
Go to Module Communications Network, Testing and Inspection, Pinpoint Test C for diagnostic communication Circuit 70 (LB/W) diagnosis.
No
SERVICE Circuit 938 (BK/LG) for open.
RESTORE vehicle.
REPEAT self test.
