Misfire Detection Repair Verification Drive Cycle

DESCRIPTION
The purpose of this drive cycle is to verify that Misfire DTCs are not present and the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) is off.

The Misfire Detection Repair Verification Drive Cycle is required, if there was no drive concern associated with the original complaint and DTCs are present. The Misfire Detection Repair Verification Drive Cycle is not required when the drive concern was classified a runs rough type and the drive concern is no longer present after the repair.

In the event that a particular drive mode of the Misfire Detection Repair Verification Drive Cycle is interrupted before completion, repeat this drive mode.

DIAGNOSTIC NOTES
The engine must be warmed up and at an operating temperature of at least 180°F (82°C) (check ECT PID).

Start the engine. Drive vehicle to location where posted legal speeds between 55 and 65 MPH can be held and where sudden coast downs approaching 35 MPH can be done without interfering with normal traffic.

PROCEDURE
1. Repeat the following drive mode steps three consecutive times:
- Accelerate the vehicle to 60 MPH (M/T up shift to 5th gear).
- Drive the vehicle with a steady throttle at 60 MPH (M/T use 5th gear) for 30 seconds.
- Coast down vehicle with foot off of the throttle from 60 MPH to 40 MPH (M/T stay in 5th or 4th gear).
2. Bring the vehicle back to idle in neutral.
3. Rerun Quick Test. Refer to Clearing and Extracting Codes / Diagnostic Subroutine / DSR 1 - Vehicle Preparation.
