Power Steering Pressure Switch: Service and Repair
REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION1. Open hood.
2. Disconnect battery ground cable.
NOTE: When the battery has been disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 16 km (10 miles) or more to relearn the strategy.
3. Disconnect electrical connector at Power Steering Pressure (PSP) switch.
4. Remove PSP switch from power steering left turn pressure hose.
5. To install, reverse removal procedure. Replace O-ring on PSP switch. Tighten PSP switch to 7-14 Nm (70-123 lb in).
6. Fill and bleed power steering system with Premium Power Steering Fluid E6AZ-19582-AA or equivalent meeting Ford specification ESW-M2C33-F. Check system for leaks and proper operation.
