Lower

1. Remove upper intake manifold.
2. Relieve fuel system pressure.
3. Disconnect fuel lines as follows:
a. Remove clip from spring lock coupling.

b. Position fuel line disconnect tool No. D87L-9280-A, D87L-9280-B, or equivalent, onto coupling.
c. Push disconnect tool into cage opening to release female fitting from garter spring.
d. Pull male and female fittings apart, then remove disconnect tool from coupling.
e. Inspect coupling for missing or damaged O-rings. If either O-ring is damaged, both O-rings have to be replaced.
4. Remove vacuum lines.

NOTE: Mark vacuum lines for installation reference.

5. Disconnect intake manifold runner actuator control cable from lower intake manifold lever and bracket.

NOTE: Do not loosen or bend intake manifold runner control actuator cable retainer bracket. Bracket alignment is important and potential actuator damage may occur.

6. Disconnect ignition wires from lefthand cylinder head (cylinder Nos. 4, 5 and 6), then position wires out of the way.
7. Remove fuel injection supply manifold and fuel injectors from lower intake manifold.





8. Using removal sequence, remove lower intake manifold attaching bolts.
9. Remove intake manifold and gaskets from cylinder head. Discard gaskets.
10. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Always use new gaskets.





b. Using tightening sequence shown, torque lower intake manifold bolts to 8-9 ft lb.
c. Inspect intake manifold runner control plate operation.
