Canister Purge Control Valve: Service and Repair

Evaporative Emission System Components:





REMOVAL and INSTALLATION

1. Disconnect main emission vacuum control connector and fuel and vapor return tube from connector ports on the EVAP canister purge valve.

2. Disconnect the engine control sensor wiring from the purge valve.

3. Remove the purge valve retaining nuts and the purge valve from from the firewall.

4. To install, reverse removal procedure.
- Tighten retaining nuts to 7.6-10.4 Nm (67-92 lb in).

5. Perform system leak check as follows:
a. Disconnect and plug fuel and vapor return tube leading to the EVAP canister at the EVAP canister purge valve.

b. Plug evaporative emission tube at the evaporative emissions canister.

c. Using Rotunda Fuel Tank Leak Tester 134-R0003, pressurize the fuel system through the test fuel tank filler cap.
d. Verify that the pressure within the system does not decay.

e. If pressure does decay, determine the cause of the leak, then repair.

f. Remove plugs and reconnect fuel and vapor return tube to the evaporative emission canister purge valve and evaporative emission tube to the evaporative emissions canister.
