Inspection and Verification
1. Verify the vehicle customer's original concern by operating the doors with the key in or headlamps on, or operating the vehicle to duplicate the condition.

2. Inspect to determine if electrical or mechanical concerns apply.
3. If inspection reveals an obvious concern that is readily serviced, correct the concern before continuing with Inspection and Verification.
4. If a concern remains after the inspection, use Rotunda New Generation Star (NGS) Tester 007-00500 or equivalent, to retrieve Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) and to execute Self Test Diagnostics for the Generic Electronic Module (GEM).
5. If self test passed and no Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) are retrieved, GO to the Symptom Chart to continue diagnostics. Symptom Related Diagnostic Procedures
6. If Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) are retrieved, GO to the GEM Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Index Table to continue diagnostics. Diagnostic Trouble Code Tests and Associated Procedures
7. If the Generic Electronic Module (GEM) cannot be accessed by the New Generation Star (NGS) Tester, GO to Pinpoint Test A. A: No Communications With GEM Module
