Compressor Fitting HVAC: Service and Repair

REMOVAL
1. Recover the refrigerant from the A/C system following the recommended procedures. Observe all safety precautions.

2. Disconnect the A/C manifold and tube from the suction accumulator/drier using the Spring Lock Coupling Disconnect Tool (3/4 inch) T85L-19623-A. Cap the suction accumulator/drier to prevent the entrance of dirt and moisture.
3. Loosen the A/C manifold retaining bolt and remove the A/C manifold and tube from the A/C compressor.

4. Remove the A/C pressure cut-off switch electrical connector.
5. Raise the vehicle on a hoist.

6. Remove the lower radiator air deflector.

7. Disconnect the A/C manifold and tube from the A/C condenser core inlet tube using the Spring Lock Coupling Disconnect Tool (3/8 inch) T81P-19623-G1. Plug the lines to prevent dirt and excessive moisture from entering.
8. Remove the A/C manifold and tube from the vehicle.
9. Remove the A/C pressure cut-off switch from the A/C manifold and tube.

INSTALLATION
1. Install the A/C pressure cut-off switch to the A/C manifold and tube.
2. With protective caps installed, position the A/C manifold and tube in vehicle.
3. Connect the A/C manifold and tube to the A/C condenser core inlet tube using new 0-ring seals lubricated with clean Motorcraft YN-12b refrigerant oil meeting Ford specification WSH-M1C231-B.
4. Install the lower radiator air deflector. Tighten the three splash shield to radiator screws to 7-11 Nm (62-97 in lb) and the remaining 11 screws to 2-3 Nm (18-27 in lb).
5. Lower the vehicle to the floor
6. Connect the A/C manifold and tube to the suction accumulator/drier using new 0-ring seals lubricated with clean Motorcraft YN-12b refrigerant oil meeting Ford specification WSH-M1C231-B.
7. Install the A/C pressure cut-off switch electrical connector.
8. Lubricate the new 0-ring seals with clean refrigerant oil and position them in the 0-ring seal grooves of the A/C manifold and tube.
9. Apply Pipe Sealant with Teflon D8AZ-19554-A or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSK-M2G350-A2 and ESR-M18P7-A to the threads of the manifold retaining bolt.
10. Position the A/C manifold and tube with the 0-ring seals to the A/C compressor. Install the retaining bolt and tighten to 17-23 Nm (12.5-17.0 ft lb).
11. Leak-test, evacuate, and charge the system following the recommended procedures. Observe all safety precautions.
