Oil Pump Driven Gear Installation:
1. Install driven gear in oil pump body with identification dot facing down.
2. Install drive gear and insert in oil pump body.
3. Use gauge bar tool No. T97P-77000-Q or equivalent and a depth micrometer to measure clearance between each gear and oil pump body face. If clearance exceeds 0.002 inch, replace oil pump assembly.
Pump Alignment Pin Installation:
4. Install pump alignment pins tool No. T94P-77000-P or equivalent in oil pump body as shown in the Pump Alignment Pin Installation image, then fill pump gear cavity with suitable ATF.
5. Install separator plate, gasket, pump support assembly, and bolts on oil pump body. Tighten four pump support bolts.
6. Remove alignment pins and tighten remaining two pump support bolts, then install oil pump seal on body.
Seal Overlap Position:
7. Install seven pump support seal rings on pump support assembly, noting position shown in the Seal Overlap Position image.
8. Install oil pump driveshaft, then rotate shaft using a torque wrench, noting the following:
a. Maximum torque is 2 in lbs.
b. If torque wrench reading exceeds specification, disassemble and inspect oil pump assembly for contamination or improper end clearance.
9. Remove torque wrench and oil pump driveshaft, then install pump support thrust bearing on support and pour suitable ATF on seal rings.
10. Install forward/coast/direct clutch cylinder and reverse clutch drum on pump support, then air check by applying 40 psi compressed air into oil pump body passages.
11. As air is applied, listen for clutch pack application. If a hissing or squeal occurs, a damaged or torn seal is indicated. Locate and repair as required.
