DISASSEMBLE
1. Remove reverse clutch pressure plate retainer snap ring, then the plates.

Reverse Clutch Return Spring Compression:






2. Use clutch spring compressor tool No. T65L-77515-A or equivalent to compress reverse clutch return spring, then remove retaining ring with snap ring pliers.
3. Remove spring compressor tool carefully to release pressure, then remove return spring assembly and piston.

ASSEMBLE
1. Soak internal spline clutch plates in clean transmission fluid for 15 minutes before assembly, then install reverse clutch piston in reverse clutch piston seal protector tool No. T94P-77000-D2 or equivalent.

2. Use seal protector tool to install reverse clutch piston with integral seals in reverse clutch drum, then install reverse clutch return spring assembly.
3. Use clutch spring compressor tool No. T65L-77515-A or equivalent to compress reverse clutch return spring, then install retaining ring with snap ring pliers.
4. Remove spring compressor, then install reverse clutch plates and pressure plate retainer snap ring.
5. Use a feeler gauge to measure clearance at two points between reverse clutch pressure plate and retainer snap ring, then average measurements. If result is not between 0.01 and 0.04 inch, choose a selective fit snap ring to obtain standard clearance. Sizes available include 0.055-0.059 inch, 0.060-0.064 inch, and 0.065-0.070 inch.
