Direct Clutch Cylinder Assembly
WITH CD4EDISASSEMBLE
1. Support forward/coast/direct clutch cylinder and reverse clutch drum assembly on a block of wood with reverse clutch hub facing up, then use snap ring pliers to remove reverse clutch hub retaining ring.
2. Remove reverse clutch hub and drum from direct clutch hub and shell, then slide direct clutch hub and shell off forward/coast/direct clutch cylinder assembly.
3. Remove and discard two reverse clutch cylinder seals from forward/coast/direct clutch cylinder assembly.
Forward/Coast/Direct Clutch Cylinder Hub Seal:
4. Remove direct clutch thrust washer and forward/coast/direct clutch cylinder hub seal from cylinder. Discard hub seal.
ASSEMBLE
1. Install direct clutch thrust washer on forward/coast/direct clutch cylinder.
NOTE: Washer tabs must face down and must seat in direct clutch support and spring.
Seal Overlap Position:
2. Install two reverse clutch cylinder seals, noting position shown in the Seal Overlap Position image, then place forward/coast/direct clutch cylinder assembly on a block of wood with direct clutch facing up.
3. Install direct clutch hub and shell on forward/coast/direct clutch cylinder, then slide reverse clutch drum assembly over direct clutch hub and shell.
4. Install reverse clutch hub and retaining ring, then invert assembly and install forward/coast/direct clutch cylinder hub seal on cylinder.
Coast Clutch Piston Seal Sizing:
5. Use coast clutch piston seal sizer tool No. T94P-7700-D4 or equivalent to size forward/coast/direct clutch cylinder hub seal. Leave tool in place until cylinder is installed in transaxle case.
