Case: Service and Repair

DISASSEMBLE
1. Remove final drive lube tube from transaxle case using a screwdriver, then remove seal using rear lube tube seal replacer tool No. T91P-76085-A or equivalent.
2. Remove park pawl ratcheting spring, then the manual control lever bolt and lever assembly.

3. Remove manual control lever shaft nut, park pawl actuating cam, cam actuator lever, park lever spacer and manual control lever shaft.
4. Remove park pawl shaft retainer and bolt assembly, then use 0-ring tool No. T71P-19703-C or equivalent to remove park pawl shaft.
5. Remove parking brake pawl assembly and park pawl return spring, then use a screwdriver to pry manual control lever seal from transaxle case.

CAUTION: Do not damage case bore during seal removal.

6. Remove manual valve Z-link.

7. Remove manual valve detent lever shaft as shown in the Manual Valve Detent Lever Shaft Retaining Pin Removal image and the manual shaft retaining pins as shown in the Manual Shaft Retaining Pin Removal image. Protect transaxle case with a wooden spacer during pin removal, and discard old pins.
8. Remove manual valve detent lever assembly and shaft, then the manual control seal from transaxle case. Discard seal.
9. Remove line pressure port plug and oil tube connector from transaxle case, then inspect oil tube connector seal.
10. If necessary, remove driven sprocket bearing from transaxle case as follows:

Driven Sprocket Bearing Removal:






a. Install threaded drawbar tool No. T75T-1176-A, servo plug replacer/needle bearing receiver tool No. T94P-77000-E2, and needle bearing replacer tool No. T94P-77000-E1, or equivalents.
b. Rotate drawbar tool until bearing seats in case.

ASSEMBLE
1. If driven sprocket bearing has been removed from transaxle case, install as follows:
a. Install threaded drawbar tool No. T75T-1176-A, servo plug replacer/needle bearing receiver tool No. T94P-77000-E2, and needle bearing replacer tool No. T94P-77000-E1 or equivalents, as shown in the Driven Sprocket Bearing Removal Tool Installation image and the Driven Sprocket Bearing Removal image.
b. Rotate drawbar tool until bearing seats in case.
2. Install oil tube connector and line pressure port plug on transaxle case and tighten.
3. Seat manual control seal in transaxle case using a small rubber mallet, then install manual valve detent lever assembly and shaft.
4. Using a hammer and punch, install retaining pins for manual shaft and manual valve detent lever shaft, then verify that manual valve detent lever assembly rotates freely.
5. Install manual valve Z-link, then the parking brake pawl and park pawl return spring.
6. Install park pawl shaft, retainer and bolt. Tighten bolt.
7. Install manual control lever seal using throttle shaft seal replacer tool No. T81P-70337-A or equivalent, then assemble park pawl actuating cam, cam actuator, and park lever spacer on manual control shaft as shown in the Manual Control Lever Shaft And Park Pawl Assembly image.
8. Install manual control lever shaft assembly and nut in transaxle case. Tighten nut.
9. Install park pawl ratcheting spring, manual control lever assembly, and bolt. Leave bolt finger tight until linkage is adjusted.
10. Using rear lube tube seal replacer tool No. T91P-76085-A or equivalent, install final drive lube tube seal in transaxle case, then push tube into seal.

Lube Tube Installation:






11. Push final drive lube tube into bearing of transaxle case. Seat with lube tube replacer tool No. T94P-77000-U2 or equivalent.
