Band Apply Servo: Service and Repair

NOTE: Servicing intermediate and overdrive servo in vehicle is only recommended in event of a leak. If servicing is required due to a servo condition, it will be necessary to disassemble transaxle to inspect overdrive band assembly and direct clutch for damage.

1. Raise and support vehicle.

Servo Cover Tool Installation:

2. Install servo cover remover/replacer T94P-77000-L, or equivalent, and compress servo cover assembly.

WARNING: Servo cover is under high spring pressure.

3. Remove servo cover retaining ring and slowly release tension on servo cover assembly.
4. After releasing all tension on servo cover, remove tool.
5. Remove servo cover, intermediate and overdrive servo piston and return spring.
6. Inspect intermediate and overdrive servo piston and servo cover for nicks or cuts, replace if necessary.
7. Reverse procedure to install. Lubricate intermediate and overdrive servo and servo cover with a light coat of transmission fluid.
