Lock Cylinder Functional

NOTE: The following procedure applies to vehicles with a functional ignition switch lock cylinder. Lock cylinder keys are available for these vehicles, or lock cylinder keys can be made. Place the ignition key in the lock cylinder.

Ignition Lock Cylinder Removal:





REMOVAL
1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
2. Remove the three upper and lower steering column shroud screws, then shrouds.
3. Turn the ignition switch lock cylinder to the accessory position.
4. Place a 1/8 inch diameter wire pin or small drift punch in the hole at the top of the lock cylinder housing,
5. Press ignition switch lock cylinder pin while pulling lock cylinder from housing.

INSTALLATION
1. Install a new ignition lock cylinder by turning it to the accessory position and pressing in the pin.
2. Insert the lock cylinder into the housing, then turn the cylinder to the OFF position. This permits the pin to extend into the lock cylinder housing hole.
3. Rotate the lock cylinder, using the key, to check operation.
4. Install the steering column shrouds, then shroud screws.
5. Connect the battery ground cable.
