Front Shoulder Strap Adjuster With Stripped Weld Nuts
PROCEDURENOTE: If the two hex-head attaching bolts on the front seat shoulder strap adjuster are not stripped, install the front seat shoulder strap adjuster to the body structure. If the front seat shoulder strap adjuster attaching bolts are stripped, replace the front seat shoulder strap adjuster and install it to the body structure.
1. With the B-pillar interior trim panel removed , drill out the damaged threads in the upper B-pillar structure using a 1/2-inch drill.
2. Apply a suitable lubricant to the threads of a M14 x 1.5 tap and tap new threads.
NOTE: After each rotation, back tap off slightly to remove new cuttings and be sure to blow out any chips before performing Step 3.
3. Select a thread insert and hand-screw it into the retapped hole until it is slightly below the surface of the hole.
NOTE: The drive "kees" on the insert will act as an automatic stop.
4. After insertion of the thread insert, use a 12-ounce hammer to lightly tap the installation tool several times to drive down the insert "kees".
