Passenger's Side
REMOVALNOTE: If the passenger side air bag module did not deploy in a collision, it may not have been needed. Complete all diagnostics before replacing the passenger side air bag module.
WARNING: The electrical circuit necessary for system deployment is powered directly from the battery. To avoid accidental deployment and possible personal injury, the positive battery cable must be disconnected prior to servicing or replacing any system components.
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Disconnect positive battery cable and wait one minute for back-up power supply energy to be depleted.
3. Open glove compartment, press sides inward and lower glove compartment to floor.
4. Remove four screws, disconnect glove compartment lamp and remove glove compartment upper cover.
5. Remove A/C evaporator register duct.
6. Through glove compartment opening, remove two passenger air bag module retaining nuts.
WARNING: Place air bag module on bench with trim cover facing up to avoid accidental deployment and possible personal injury.
7. Remove two remaining passenger air bag module retaining bolts, disconnect electrical connector and remove passenger side air bag module.
INSTALLATION
1. Connect electrical connector to passenger side air bag module and position passenger side air bag module in instrument panel.
2. Install two retaining bolts. Tighten to 15-18 Nm (11-13 lb ft).
3. Install two retaining nuts. Tighten to 15-18 Nm (11-13 lb ft).
4. Install A/C evaporator register duct.
5. Install glove compartment upper cover, connect glove compartment lamp and secure with four screws.
6. Return glove compartment to correct position.
7. Reconnect positive battery cable.
8. Reconnect battery ground cable.
9. Prove out air bag system.
