Ignition Coil Pack
Coil Pack:
REMOVAL
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Disconnect wiring from the ignition coil.
3. Remove Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) vacuum regulator solenoid from upper intake manifold.
Removing Ignition Wires At Coil Pack:
4. Disconnect ignition wires by squeezing locking tabs and twisting while pulling upward.
5. Remove four ignition coil retaining bolts and remove ignition coil. Remove radio ignition interference capacitor and disconnect coil ground wire. Save radio ignition interference capacitor for reinstallation with ignition coil.
INSTALLATION
1. Position ignition coil, radio ignition interference capacitor and coil ground wire onto RH valve cover.
2. Install ignition coil retaining bolts and tighten to 5-7 Nm (40-61 lb in).
3. Apply Ford Silicone Dielectric Compound D7AZ-19A331-A (Motorcraft WA-10) or equivalent meeting Ford specification ESE-M1C171-A to all ignition wire boots.
4. Install each ignition wire connector to the proper terminal on the ignition coil. Make sure boots are fully seated.
5. Install EGR vacuum regulator solenoid to upper intake manifold.
6. Connect the wiring to the ignition coil. Connect wiring to the radio ignition interference capacitor.
7. Connect battery ground cable.
