Service Procedure

This TSB article is for rear CMS (post Cat HEGO - part no. F6CZ-9G444-BA) on V6 CD4E ONLY.

Verify the condition of the CMS wire prior to beginning any repairs.

1. Disconnect the CMS sensor wire from the main wiring loom.

2. Remove the CMS sensor from the exhaust Y-pipe assembly and discard.

3. Remove the black spring clip from the top rib of the transmission case and install the clip on the transmission case bottommost rib. Position the clip so the flylead retaining clip is on the topside, as shown in Figure 1.

4. Install the L-shaped metal Clip/Bracket (W700465-S305) onto the second rib of the transmission case making sure the bracket points up, as shown in Figure 1. Use a hammer, if necessary, but take care not to damage the bracket or transmission case.

5. Carefully remove the connector and body wiring loom from its location on the subframe. The connector and body wiring loom are attached using a fir tree connector. Use Clip/Connector (W700219-5300) if the original part is damaged during removal from the subframe.

6. Insert the fir tree connector into the hole in the L-shaped metal bracket.

7. Fold the excess body wiring loom over the top of the connector as shown in Figure 2. The wiring loom will be retained by the HEGO connector when it is installed.

8. Install the new CMS sensor into the Y-pipe assembly making sure the lead is riot twisted during the installation.

9. Loop the CMS lead through the black clip and be sure the lead is evenly distributed on either side of the clip.

10. Reconnect the CMS wire lead to the main wiring loom making sure the body wiring loom is tucked behind the connector.
