Electronic Fuse Installation - Supplement

NOTE:
You should perform this repair only if your inspection revealed a motor with a stamped slotted end cap which operates when energized. In this situation, the vehicle will not require cooling fan and blade replacement.

1. Raise and support the vehicle on a hoist (dual cooling fan applications only).

2. Locate and disconnect the cooling fan harness electrical connector. On dual cooling fan applications, disconnect both cooling fan harness electrical connectors.

NOTE:
On dual cooling fan applications, be sure to install electronic fuses on BOTH cooling fans.

3. Connect the electronic fuse(s) to the cooling fan motor electrical connector, then connect the harness to the fuse. Properly installed, you should hear a "click" when the connector locking tabs engage, and the fuse(s) will rest against the cooling fan module shroud. See Figures 5, 6 and 7.

CAUTION
Do not position a tie strap around a fan blade.

4. Secure the electronic fuse to the cooling fan shroud using the supplied tie straps. Refer to the previous illustrations for tie strap placement.

5. Lower the vehicle (dual cooling fan applications only).

6. Recheck cooling fan operation as outlined in the Operational Check procedure. Be sure to reconnect Connector No. 117 on cars without air conditioning after the final inspection.

CAUTION
STOP! NO FURTHER ACTION IS REQUIRED.
