Valve Cover: Service and Repair

1. Disconnect battery ground cable, then remove engine air intake resonators.
2. Disconnect crankcase ventilation tube from valve cover fitting.
3. Remove ignition wires and ignition wire separators from valve cover, then disconnect from spark plugs.
4. Remove power steering pressure hose bracket bolt and position pressure hose aside.
5. Remove upper timing cover and remove from engine cover.

6. Remove valve cover bolts, starting from outside of valve cover and working to inside of valve cover, then valve cover with gasket from cylinder head.
7. Inspect valve cover gasket and O-rings for damage or signs of leakage. Replace gasket and O-rings if necessary.
8. Reverse procedure to install. Torque valve cover bolts, beginning in center of valve cover and working to outside of valve cover, to 53-71 in lb.
