Timing Cover: Service and Repair

1. Disconnect battery ground cable and remove engine cooling fan and shroud.
2. Loosen water pump pulley bolts and remove serpentine drive belt.
3. Remove water pump pulley.
4. Raise and support vehicle, then remove power steering pump attaching bolts.

NOTE: Front lower bolt on power steering pump will not pull out completely.

5. Support power steering pump and position aside.
6. Remove oil pan to front cover attaching bolts.
7. Remove crankshaft damper attaching bolt and washer, then remove damper using puller T58P-6316-D or equivalent.
8. Lower vehicle, then bolt securing A/C high pressure line to RH coil bracket.
9. Remove camshaft covers front attaching bolts, then loosen remaining cover bolts.
10. Using plastic wedges or suitable tool, prop up camshaft covers.
11. Disconnect ignition coils and Crankshaft Identification (CID) sensor.
12. Remove RH coil bracket attaching nuts, then position power steering hose aside.
13. Remove LH coil bracket attaching nuts, then pull bracket and ignition wires from mounting studs and position aside.
14. Remove front cover attaching bolts and stub bolts, then remove front cover.
15. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Apply silicone gasket and sealant E3AZ-19562-A or equivalent in damper keyway. Ensure crankshaft key and keyway are aligned, using Crankshaft Damper Replacer T74P-6316-B or equivalent, install crankshaft damper.
