Connecting Rod: Service and Repair
NOTE: If old pistons are serviceable, ensure they are installed on original rods from which they were removed. Check side clearance between connecting rods and crankshaft journal. Correct clearance is 0.006-0.0177 inch.1. Ensure to assemble pistons, pins, bearings, caps, nuts and bolts in original positions.
2. Install pistons with notch to front of engine.
3. Alternatively tighten connecting rod caps.
4. After installation, rotate crankshaft to ensure smooth operation.
