Door Stuck Closed - Grand Marquis, Crown Vic., Town Car

1. Remove the screw from the bottom of the trim panel (requires short phillips screwdriver).

2. Remove switch plates from door trim panel. Refer to the appropriate Service Manual.

3. Remove screw located behind switch plate.

4. Remove screws from grab handle.

5. Remove door inside handle cup.

6. Lift panel up and pull panel inboard to gain access to latch area.

7. Remove the inside bottom glass moulding.

8. Access latch through sheet metal opening at top of door.

9. Insert a screwdriver into top of latch and pry open latch cover approximately 12 mm (0.5") as shown in Figure 1.

10. Feel along the back side of the latch (faces the door outer panel) for the tab on the link lever. Pull the link lever toward the front of the vehicle as shown in Figure 2 until the spring pulls the link lever back into the correct position.

11. Open the door.

12. Complete the repair as outlined in the Door Stuck Open Procedure.

13. Reinstall all components as outlined in the Service Manual.
