Assembly and Installation

CAUTION: Do not interchange righthand and lefthand side components during assembly.

1. Place differential case bearing shims into proper locations using a light film of suitable grease to hold them into place.

Carrier Spreading:

2. Install carrier spreader and spread case 0.030 in.
3. Place differential case into place.

CAUTION: Use no force or aluminum carrier may be damaged.

4. With carrier still spread, place differential bearing caps into place and torque bolts to 70-85 ft lb.
5. Remove carrier spreader, then install a suitable dial gauge and inspect ring gear backlash.
6. If backlash is not within specifications, refer to the shim correction table.
