Shift Linkage: Testing and Inspection
MANUAL LINKAGE INSPECTIONNOTE: Ensure Overdrive detent in the transmission corresponds exactly with the stop in the steering column or console. Hydraulic leakage at the manual valve can cause delay in engagements and/or slipping while operating if the linkage is not correctly adjusted.
1. Check for improperly adjusted shift linkage. This is done by matching the detents in the shift lever with those in the transmission.
2. If they match, the indicator is improperly adjusted. Do not adjust the shift linkage.
3. If they do not match, adjust the shift linkage.
