Fuel Filler Hose: Description and Operation

Purpose
An opening in the fuel tank filler pipe allows only non-leaded fuel nozzles to be inserted. The restrictor is a narrow opening in the filler covered by a spring steel trap door.

Operation
As the fuel level rises to cover the fill vent, pressure rises in the fuel tank causing fuel to back up and shut off the fuel dispensing nozzle.

^ A closed trap door causes fuel to back up and the automatic nozzle to shut off.

NOTE: The fuel tank filler pipe is manufactured as an assembly and must be serviced by removing and replacing with a new fuel tank filler pipe. The fuel tank filler pipe must not be modified in any way.
