Fuel Return Line: Service and Repair
Removal1. Depressurize fuel system: Fuel Pressure Release
2. Unsnap fuel tube retainer located on the RH front fender apron.
3. Raise vehicle.
4. Remove tethers which secure the spring lock coupling retainer clips to the fuel tubes.
5. Disconnect spring lock couplings from fuel injection supply manifold (9F792) and fuel filter outlet.
6. Remove RH front fender liner.
7. Remove two screws attaching the plastic retainer/shield to the front side rear member.
8. Disconnect front fuel supply return and vapor tube by disconnecting the push connect at the fuel filter outlet.
9. Disconnect front fuel supply return and vapor tube from the rear fuel supply return and vapor tube by disconnecting the push connect fittings located rearward of the fuel filter.
10. Disconnect vapor tube from evaporative emissions canister (EVAP canister) and remove three retaining clips in the RH front fender apron.
11. The front fuel supply return and vapor tube can now be removed from the vehicle by pulling the front fuel supply return and vapor tube out through the front fender apron opening.
Installation
1. Feed front fuel supply return and vapor tube through the front fender apron opening.
2. Connect front fuel supply return and vapor tube to evaporative emissions canister and install three retaining clips in the front fender apron.
3. Connect front fuel supply return and vapor tube to rear fuel supply return and vapor tube by connecting the push connect fittings located rearward of fuel filter.
4. Connect front fuel supply return and vapor tube push connect fitting to fuel filter outlet.
5. Install plastic retainer/shield to the front side rear member with two screws.
6. Install front fender liner.
7. Snap fuel tube retainer (located on the front fender apron stud) around the front fuel supply return and vapor tube.
8. Connect spring lock couplings to fuel injection supply manifold.
9. Install tethers and retainer clips removed in Step 4 of the removal procedure.
10. Lower vehicle.
11. Fill fuel tank, start engine and check for leaks.
