Fuel Pressure Regulator: Service and Repair

Removal
1. If removing fuel pressure regulator while fuel injection supply manifold is installed on engine, perform fuel system pre-service procedures: Service and Repair

2. Remove vacuum line from fuel pressure regulator.

3. Remove two Allen-head retaining screws from fuel pressure regulator housing.

4. Remove fuel pressure regulator, return seal and 0-rings. Discard fuel pressure regulator return seal and 0-rings.

5. If scraping is necessary, do not damage fuel pressure regulator or fuel injection supply manifold sealing surfaces.

Installation
1. Lubricate fuel pressure regulator 0-rings with clean engine oil X0-10W30-OSP or -DSP or equivalent meeting Ford Specification ESE-M2C153-E.

CAUTION: Never use silicone grease. Silicone grease will clog the fuel injectors.

2. Make sure sealing surfaces of fuel pressure regulator and fuel injection supply manifold are clean.

3. Install new fuel pressure regulator 0-rings on fuel pressure regulator.

4. Install fuel pressure return seal in recess port of fuel injection supply manifold.

5. Install fuel pressure regulator on fuel injection supply manifold. Tighten retaining screws to 3.0-4.5 Nm (27-39 lb.in.).

6. Install vacuum line to fuel pressure regulator.
