Wheel Speed Sensor: Description and Operation

The front anti-lock sensor and brackets are mounted on the front wheel
knuckles and the rear brake anti-lock sensors are mounted on the rear wheel spindles. The sensors produce electrical pulses by monitoring the rotation of the sensor indicators which are mounted on the front wheel driveshaft and joints and the rear wheel hubs.
