ISSUE:
A revised master cylinder and brake booster is available for service on non-ABS vehicles to further improve brake pedal feel and travel.

ACTION:
Refer to the following charts and text to determine the proper service parts for replacement.

NOTE:
DO NOT ATTEMPT TO COMBINE ANY COMBINATION OF OLD DESIGN PARTS WITH NEW DESIGN PARTS. EACH BOOSTER AND MASTER CYLINDER SERVICE PART MUST BE MATCHED TO ITS ORIGINALLY RELEASED SERVICE PART.

These vehicles could have either the older design or newer design parts. Identify the system by finding the number stamped on the master cylinder casting. A number "38" identifies the earlier design. A number "44" identifies the revised design. Refer to the appropriate chart when ordering service parts.

NOTE:
THE 3/4/5-DOOR VEHICLES HAVE INTEGRATED PROPORTIONING VALVES MARKED WITH "F3".





NOTE:
STATION WAGONS HAVE PROPORTIONING VALVES MARKED WITH "F5". REFER TO FIGURE 1.
