Electronic Instrument Cluster (EIC)
The electronic instrument system consists of:
1. An electronic instrument cluster.
2. An electronic cluster message center switch module.
3. Transmission control selector indicator Electronic Instrument Cluster (EIC).
The electronic instrument cluster is a single module which contains:
1. Speedometer/odometer/tachometer.
2. Fuel computer.
3. System scanner.
4. Fuel gauge.
5. Engine coolant temperature gauge.
It also contains the following warning indicators:
1. Charging system.
2. Safety belt.
3. Brakes.
4. High beams.
5. Oil pressure.
6. Left turn signal.
7. Right turn signal.
8. CHECK ENGINE (Malfunction Indicator Lamp [MIL]).
9. ANTI-LOCK.
10. AIR BAG.
The electronic instrument cluster is operational only when the ignition switch is in RUN. The electronic vacuum fluorescent displays are powered by a nonserviceable internal power supply (illumination bulbs are not used). When the headlamps are turned on, the instrument cluster will dim according to the rheostat position (except warnings which will not dim).
