Floor Shift Lever And Housing

REMOVAL
1. Remove the console assembly.

2. Remove the shift knob and bezel assembly.
3. Remove the transaxle shift cable retaining screws from the gearshift lever.
4. Pull the shift cable and bracket from the plastic snap retainer on the gearshift lever.
5. Remove the ignition/shifter interlock cable retaining screw from the gearshift lever and slide the ignition/shifter interlock cable out of the shifter interlock cam.
6. Remove the four bolts retaining the gearshift lever to the front floor pan. Remove the gearshift lever.

INSTALLATION
1. Position the shift cable and bracket into the gearshift lever and install the retaining screws.
2. Snap the cable end into the plastic snap retainer on the gearshift lever.
3. Install the gearshift lever onto the front floor pan and secure it with four bolts. Tighten the bolts to 5.9-8.1 Nm (4.4-6.0 ft lb).
4. Connect the ignition/shifter interlock cable to the shifter interlock cam. Install the cable retaining screw.
5. Position the bezel assembly on the gearshift lever. Secure it with four screws.
6. Install the console on the gearshift lever with two screws.
7. Install the shift knob.
8. Adjust the control linkage.
9. Check the transaxle operation in each of the transmission range detent positions.
