Rear
1. Raise and support rear of vehicle, then remove tire and wheel assembly.NOTE: If a frame contact hoist is used, support lower control arm with floor jack. If a twin post lift is used, support body with floor jacks on lifting pads forward of tension strut body bracket.
2. Loosen shock absorber to lower control arm attaching nuts. Do not remove nuts at this time.
3. Lower vehicle, then remove rear compartment access panels.
4. Remove shock absorber top mounting nut, washer and insulator.
5. Raise and support vehicle to remove absorber to lower control arm attaching nuts, then remove absorber from vehicle. The shock absorbers are gas filled and will require an effort to collapse them for removal.
6. If the absorbers are to be used again, do not grip their shafts with pliers or vise grips, as this will damage the shafts' surface finish and result in fluid leaks.
7. Reverse procedure to install. Use a new bushing repair kit on top of the absorber.
