COOLANT TEMPERATURE GAUGEThe coolant temperature gauge has the following features:
1. This gauge is identified by a thermometer symbol.
a. H means high temperature.
b. C means low temperature.
c. NORMAL means normal temperature.
2. H, C, and NORM graduations are illuminated when the instrument cluster is powered. The H graduation is located just left of the top segment (No. 12) and the C graduation is located just left of the bottom segment (No. 1). The NORM graduation is centered vertically between the H and C graduations and two lines indicating normal range of operation. Specific temperature sender resistance ranges correspond to a specific number of illuminated segments in "fill up" format.
Diagnostic Bars
When only top two and bottom two bars are illuminated, these are the diagnostic bars.
Diagnostic bars on this gauge indicate that the resistance of Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor is lower than the operating resistance range and could be a short circuit.
High Coolant Temperature Warning
When the coolant temperature exceeds the NORM range, the temperature gauge indicator will begin to flash at a 1 Hz rate. A one-second audible tone will also be given to alert the driver of the abnormal condition. The audible alert will be repeated every five seconds.
