Ball Joint: Testing and Inspection

1. Raise and support vehicle.
2. Attach dial indicator 4201-C, or equivalent, at ball joint to be checked.
3. To measure lateral movement between front wheel knuckle and front suspension arm lower ball joint, grasp tire at top and bottom and slowly move tire in and out.
4. Record radial play from dial indicator. If reading exceeds 0.015 inch, replace ball joint.
